PEDAGOGY STATEMENT

My philosophy about caring for and educating children is children are one of my first loves. I enjoy teaching children and watching them grow and learn. I also enjoy learning from them. I love seeing the way their faces light up at new experiences and new accomplishments. Enrichment and enhancement of the child are the goals.

I care for children from birth to five years old. The children are grouped together; this allows them to learn from one another. Lil' Bits Family Child Care Home helps to develop the whole child (physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, as well as language and creativity). I emphasize on learning through play. The children are motivated through play and learning is made fun. Children learn best from exploring on their own as well as being taught directly. They learn through all of their senses. Lil' Bits will help prepare the children for school.

My behavior standards for the children are to have fun, respect self and others, explore and follow the rules as they learn them. The children will be redirected from any inappropriate behavior, to something more positive. All children are treated equally and I take into account individual differences.
My personal qualities include my love for children, patience, caring, nurturing, giving, compassion, and people's skills. Also, I have two grown children and eight grandchildren.

Professional qualifications include over twenty five years’ experience as a childcare practitioner with well over 1000 hours of training in child development, health, safety and nutrition. I am a Keystone STARS participant with a 4 rating. My credentials include a Child Development Associate (CDA) and a PA Director's Credential. Also, I hold an Associate in Applied Science degree in Early Childhood Education and a Bachelor's degree in Childcare Management. I completed Graduate School with a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education. I participate in ongoing training in the areas of child growth and development, healthy and safe environments, developmentally appropriate practices, guidance, family relationships, cultural and individual diversity, as well as professionalism.

Lil' Bits FCCH will respect the children, parents and families and I ask that you do the same for myself, as well as each other and anyone else present in the facility.

At Lil' Bits FCCH my mission is to motivate students towards excelling in education, citizenship, and personal  achievement through nurturing, age appropriate activities, and increased parent involvement. We encourage unity, spirit, loyalty and cooperation between students, parents, faculty of Lil' Bits FCCH and its community.
